I got that chance to go to the Get Lit Youth Poetry Slam finals. I was really impressed by these high schoolers writing and performance level. I certainly could not write poetry like this. It inspires me to want to try more though. It also makes me want to work with highschoolers. If only they could all be as motivated as passionate as these kids.
One poem resonated with me so much as I have worked in the school system this year. Its entitled, Edu-caution. Its about the standardized testing. There poem really says it all.
